The BYOC qualifier for Copenhagen Games 2018 has come to a close with Valiance, Imperial, Windigo, and Sprout making it through to the main tournament, which begins later today.
114 teams stood at the beginning of the BYOC qualifier, which kicked off yesterday with a round-robin group stage. 50 teams were eliminated before the remaining 64 battled in a single-elimination playoffs bracket for four spots in the main tournament.
Several notable teams were eliminated by round of 16, such as Rogue and Epsilon, who fell to Tricked and Valiance, respectively, before the last stage of the qualifier.
Windigo beat BARBARR's Singularity to secure a spot in the main tournament
There, Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač's team prevailed over NOREG to claim one of the spots at the main tournament. Led by Rokas "EspiranTo" Milasauskas, Imperial made it past Tricked in the quarter-finals 2-1 after cruising through the BYOC qualifier unscathed.
The tournament ended with two close affairs. Windigo edged out Singularity despite André "BARBARR" Möller's team's efforts on the deciding map, while Sprout came back from a 4-11 deficit on Inferno against Red Reserve to finalize the team list at Copenhagen Games.
